Stewardship Reflection, January 30, 2014

All of us have been confronted with situations when we have lacked the wisdom and the self-discipline to say, “No” to what is displeasing to God.  As we grow in faith, though, we learn to “submit [our] selves . . . to God . . . [and to] resist the devil . . .” (James 4:7).  “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age . . .” (Titus 2:11-12).  Although we are tempted daily to make choices that gratify our sense, by God’s grace, we can “live self-controlled, upright and godly lives.”
