Through our own personal efforts, we are not going to be able to give more. We can grow in the grace of giving only because the Holy Spirit, working through God’s Word, instructs and empowers us to be more generous. As we spend time reading and studying God’s Word, we will grow in faith and grow in our generosity. The Apostle Paul wrote, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). It is only by God’s grace that we have money to give, and it is only by God’s grace that we have the desire to give.
