To teach us selfless service, Jesus demonstrated a perfect example of servant leadership. He washed the dust and dirt off his disciples’ feet (John 13:1-17). On the day before his crucifixion, Jesus, who was both Son of Man and Son of God, took a towel and a water basin and washed their feet. Finishing his task, Jesus told them: “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you” (John 13:14-15). With Jesus as our example, we should seek opportunities to serve others. Our service will not only bless those who we serve, we will also be blessed by doing them.
