Lent at Zion

ash-wednesday

Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2014

During the forty days  of Lent, we are invited to participate in disciplines of fasting, prayer, and works of love.  Ash Wednesday is the solemn day of prayer that marks the beginning of Lent, when we confess our sin in a litany of repentance (turning back to God), receive ashes (the ancient symbol of repentance and a reminder of our mortality), and, marked with the cross of Christ, begin our journey through Lent.

Join us for worship at Zion on Ash Wednesday at 12:00 noon and at 7:30 pm on March 5, 2014.  If you are unable to attend either service, Pastor Pernini and other area clergy and lay ministers will also be at the Rahway train station on Ash Wednesday, between 6:00 and 8:00 am, offering prayers and ashes to travelers and passersby.

Midweek worship during Lent

Join us, also, on Wednesdays during Lent for midweek Evening Prayer at 7:30 pm, from March 12 through April 9

Please note the corrected time for Ash Wednesday evening service: 7:30 pm!
