Our congregation participates in various serving ministries, including Operation Warm Heart; Food for Friends; appeals for disaster relief; advocacy for peace, justice, and the good stewardship of God’s creation; community service; and helping families and children in need.
Our shared Lutheran values have helped bring light to critical issues on Capitol Hill, including those that address hunger, global poverty, caring for creation, and the protection of children.
“The poor of the world are disproportionately being impacted [by climate change],” he said. “Faith and our moral compasses need to be considered when dealing with this problem.”
“It’s God’s work, our hands, our energy, our feet, our ability to do the work we’re called to do,” Chaney said. “We are able to engage our faith as part of our physical caring for ourselves.”

There are so many storms around us all over the world... For me, the only way to not be paralyzed by the shock and desperation is to advocate for those ideals Jesus modeled – feeding, healing, showing compassion, praying, suffering, and challenging leaders to make difficult decisions.
