It has been said that women have the greatest potential to bring about lasting change in their communities. But around the world, women don’t receive equal opportunities to go to school.
Today, March 8, is International Women’s Day, and on this day our church has a special opportunity to step forward and do our part.
The ELCA’s International Women Leaders initiative offers high-potential women from our global companion churches the opportunity to learn while strengthening their capacity to transform the world. Through this program, more than 200 women will receive scholarships and educational opportunities in their home country, neighboring countries or ELCA colleges and universities in the United States. After their studies, students return to their home countries ready to assume important roles in their church and society.
